Signs of Spring

The temperature is increasing, and the leaves are starting to appear on the trees. I have already mowed the lawn for the first time this year. Spring is here. With spring comes the birds. It is the time of year I have both the fishing gear and the camera gear close at hand.

Here are a few of the recent visitors to the yard.

The Cardinals are always my favorites. Here is the female:

And here is the male:

This is a Red-Bellied Woodpecker that has been visiting the deck:

And this little guy is a Tufted Titmouse:

Here he is breaking open the seed with his beak:

There will be plenty more visitors to the yard over the next few months. The variety is one of the great things about living in Kentucky.

If I mowed the lawn the mower would choke on snow. Spring doesn't start until May, silly.

Great lookin photos! Wish we had more birds in the yard, but 4 cats puts a limit on the wildlife willing to venture into the yard. Cut the grass today! Plantin the garden this weekend! Hardcore fishin by mid-April!

oh yeah. Since you love little trout and wildflowers as much as I do, you should really consider coming to SMNP sometime in late April. Fishin is excellent and the wildflowers will drop your jaw. Shapin up to be a good wildflower year!
